Residential Services

The Autism Center of Nebraska provides settings in the community for people with disabilities that allow them to become a part of their community. Individuals are matched to these home settings based on their individual needs and capabilities.

Residential Managers and Residential Associates are teachers, friends, and companions to the individuals in the residential program. Services are delivered within the community and are focused on integration and maximizing independence. Low individual/staff ratios are maintained to maximize individual attention and to address special needs. Programming addresses the development of:

• communication
• self-help
• independent living skills
• social/recreational skills
• basic principles of daily living

Community activities are designed to enhance learning and develop awareness. Recreational activities and field trips help to build interpersonal skills and provide exercise and opportunities for interaction within the neighborhood and community.
